The Destruction of Nature and Ourselves

I was sitting by the stairs, under the moon, outdoors, within the compound of a Buddhist temple. In the background, there was the chanting of mantras…

I begin to question, what do we actually pray for?  Was it for success, happiness, money, love, peace? Are we all praying to be safe and secure?

It is interesting, the human species - we destroy nature - God's/Universe’s creation, to achieve success or to be seen as successful... and expect God/Universe to protect us and keep us safe? Doesn’t he/she/it has the same responsibility to all of his/her/it’s creation? So why should we be the special ones to be protected and kept safe compared to any other?

Everyone of us is actually responsible for the destruction of nature... whether it is because of greed or materialism or even for what we see as basic needs.
For example, owning a home- which is the cause for the destruction of trees..
Why do we think that God is going to protect us and keep us safe when we actually are destroying his/her creations?

It is NOT a matter of survival. We can live in huts, tree houses or environmentally friendly homes  - among nature NOT instead of nature. That would be a much more healthier way of living on all levels... Mentally, emotionally and physically..
Don't expect not to be affected by the destruction of nature. We are all a part of it. When we destroy nature, whether consciously or unconsciously, we destroy a part of ourselves.
